Interviwer: What is Nritya Yoga?
“Nritya Yoga is a way of moving meditation which combines the techniques from Bharatanatyam, philosophy of yoga & meditation. In this dance form, we emphasize the coherence between body movements and the feeling reflected by the mind. Particularly, in vedic culture, it is represented in the harmonious combination of rhythm and body movements (Nritta), gestures (Natya) & facial expression (Nritya).
"Very often, people would mistakenly dance and yoga as seperate entities, thus feeling curious about the combination of the two concepts. However, fundamentally speaking, yoga and dance are the same, both are emphasizing on the union of body, mind, intellect and soul. Therefore, dance belongs to yoga, or we can even say, dance is yoga. This is actually the motive for us to organize this training. We hope to spread to the market with about a broader view about the ecosystem of yoga and dance."
One typical example is the use of Mudras in Yoga and Dance. In Yoga, Mudras are more for internal communication, which are used in conjunction with pranayama, so as to stimulate different parts of the body involved with breathing and to affect the flow of prana in the body. different mudra can open different levels of your inner heart, improve wisdom. Moreover on behalf of a stable, a peace, is the connection between body and heart, heart and soul, body and universe. While mudras are used for communicating externally in dance. The Hastha Mudras or hand gestures are used for a variety of reasons such as to mime the meaning of the song, convey deeper feelings, bring out inherent qualities, invoke the myriad forms of the Divine, etc.
“Similarly, there is also the concept of Nava Rasas, which are nine major classical categories of emotions or Rasa, that are represented by the facial expressions. All these contents will be covered in the coming training, and you are going to experience the union of body movement, mind, intellect and soul.”
Interviewer: What you will teach in A SIP of Nritya Yoga Training? How are the dancing sequence going to be?
采访者: 在这次 “一饮一啄－恩迪亚舞蹈瑜伽培训课程”中，你具体会教授什么？我们能学到什么样的舞蹈序列？
"This course will be a very comprehensive experience about Nritya Yoga and Bharatanatyam. It will cover the basics of Bharatanatyam concepts and techniques, incluluding hand gesture, mudra, body postures, stances, body balancing, hand & feet synchronising, lasya and tandava, etc. Most importantly, the course will guide you to experience and present the trance meditation, to utilize your external body to express the internal emotions and thoughts. This will be an overall experience of body, mind and soul."
“For this training, I have prepared 3 dancing sequences of Narthana Ganapati, Shakti Dance and Mystic Krishna. I have spent some time in the music selection, which ensures the balance of modern and traditional. Also, for the dancing sequence, they are completely original from my choreography. I am confident that you will have a very unique experience. As some people are asking whether there are videos of the dancing sequence available online, I am sorry that you may not be able to find anything online. The best way is to come for the class and experience in person."
"Anyone interested in Yoga practice or Indian culture should find these names familiar. Ganesha plays an important role in yoga practice, he is the first to be worshipped before starting any initiative and well known to remove obstacles and bless us with auspiciousness. Shakti is the devine feminine energy, regarded as the giver of physical material and spiritual wishes. The naughty Krishna is the incarnation of Vishnu-the maintainer, he is the heart throb of ladies, the slayer of vicious demons, the magical healer."
“The 3 dancing sequences combines the two aspects of bharatanatyam - Lasya (the graceful feminine movements) and Tandava (the powerful masculine movements), which will give you a full-fledged expereince of this classical dance form."
Interviewer: Bharatanatyam gives a very traditional and Indian feeling. Is it not suitable for people doing contemporary or modern dance? As for beginners, can they also join?
"Indeed, Bharatanatyam is one of the most sacred & popular dance among 8 classical dancing forms. The two facets of Bharatanatyam are Lasya (the graceful feminine movements) and Tandava (the powerful masculine movements), which is very similar to the concepts of Yin & Yang in China. In other words, there should be no restriction concerning gender restriction or nationality."
"Many popular dancing forms in recent days also have integrated the elements of Bharatanatyam, say Bollywood dance, Belly dance, Tribal dance, etc. So for those professional dancers from other traditions, I believe you can also get some inspiration from this course."
"There are many fancy courses market now like trance dance, yoga dance, spiritual dance, etc, which incorporates yoga with dance. It has become an inevitable trend. Therefore, as for yoga teachers, it is really very crucial for you to expand your career prospects."
“Most importantly you should remember is that, there should be no restriction for dance. In dance, what you will feel is he sense of comfort, nature and ease. Dance is more than body movement...
Either you are a professional dance, yoga practitioner, or spiritual aspirant;
Whether or not you know about yoga, dance, Indian culture;
However background you come from, whatever expectations you have;
As long as you believe body is your temple...
As long as you want to expereince ecstasy...
You can dance!!"
