Question: I’m confused because the gunas are, as I understand, the energies that we can’t see. And we move back and forth between the subtle body and the physical body, annamaya kosha. When you talked about materials passing to different states, such as earth state and water state, these are in the physical world, but you talked about them in the context of gunas. How is that possible? 

问: 我有点困惑,因为以我的理解,三种性情(gunas)是我们看不到的能量。而我们一直在精微层面和物质层面之间跳来跳去。当我们在谈到物质在不同形态之间转换的时候,它们是物质的存在,而您却在三种性情中谈论它们。这是怎么回事?

A: All these things that we are talking about such as the five elements and even the faculty of seeing, listening, the faculty of moving, receiving, giving, etc. are known as “tattva” in Sanskrit language. “Tattva” means the principal and concept, so to speak. These tattvas govern the physical phenomena. Once again, tattvas being subtle, we cannot understand them without their physical manifestations. So that is why I’m explaining a tattva as a subtle concept and I’m explaining its physical influence, how you can perceive the activity of the tattva in the physical world, so that you get an idea about what is the principle behind these physical phenomena. So for example, water element is jal tattva. At the physical level, it’s not just the water we drink. Anything that is in the liquid state is jal tattva’s physical manifestation. So in the context of human body, saliva, blood and urine are all jal tattva. And in the external world, ocean, pond, river, rain and even petroleum are all jal ttatva. So once again, these are all tattvas, but I’m just putting them in physical context so that it is easy for us to understand in a more concrete and more tangible fashion rather than in an intangible concept. This is multi-dimensional thinking, and it could be a little bit challenging in the beginning, but eventually we’ll get accustomed to it.

答:我们所说的五大元素以及那些感觉器官和运动器官都被称为“tattva”。Tattva是准则、概念的意思。这些准则掌管着物质世界的现象。这些准则是精微层面的,如果没有它们在物质世界的显现,我们是无法理解它们的。这就是为什么我在讲解一个精微的准则时也要解释它们对于物质世界的影响,也就是你如何在物质世界中感受到它的活动。之所以这么做,是为了让大家对于这些物质现象背后的准则有所了解。比如说水元素就是“jal tattva”。从物质的角度来说,它并不只是我们所喝的“水”。任何液态的存在都是jal tattva的物质显现。对于人体来说,唾液、血液和尿液都是jal tattva。而对于自然界来说,海洋、湖泊、河流、雨水甚至是石油都是Jal tattva。所以说,这些都是准则(tattva),但是我把它们放在物质的情景中讲解,是为了让大家以更具体更有形的方式来理解。这是一种多维度的思维方式,开始时可能会有点难,但最终我们会习惯的。

Question: In the two cases given above, does the kundalini awakening mean enlightenment?kundalini, Shakti, transcendental and Shiva?

问: 在上面的两个例子中,昆达里尼能量的唤醒是否意味着开悟?

A: There is another spiritual tradition known as “tantra”. In tantric tradition, Brahma is called as “Shiva” and kundalini is called as “Shakti”. So it’s the same thing. Just different tradition, different words. So if you like the words “Shiva” and “Shakti”, no problem. You can substitute them and I can use them. There are many spiritual traditions that came from ancient India. They all have the same philosophy essentially, just using different terminology to indicate different concepts. Also there is a slight difference between “Shiva” and “Brahman”, and between “Shakti” and “kundalini”. When we say the word “Brahma”, we mean that the divine has no gender, and is beyond all qualities and all descriptions, etc. But when we use the word “Shiva” and “Shakti”, we generally mean “Shiva” is the masculine energy, and “Shakti” is the feminine energy. So tantra, as a philosophy, looks at the entire creation as a dance, as an interplay between “Shiva” and “Shakti”, cosmic masculine energy and cosmic feminine energy.

答:有一种灵性修行的传统叫“密宗”,在密宗里,人们把“梵天”成为“湿婆”, 把昆达里尼能量称为“沙克蒂”。它们其实是同一种东西,只是不同的修行方法叫不同的名字。如果你喜欢用“湿婆”和“沙克蒂”的话,也没问题。你可以用这些词来代替,我也可以使用这些词。很多灵性修行的传统都来自古印度,它们的哲学思想本质上都是相同的,只是它们使用不同的词来表示不同的概念而已。当然在“湿婆”和“梵天”,“沙克蒂”和“昆达里尼”之间还是有细微的差别的。当我们使用“梵天”这个词时,我们指的是那个没有性别,超越所有语言描述和性质的神。但是当我们说起“湿婆”和“沙克蒂”时,“湿婆”通常是指阳性的能量,而“沙克蒂”通常指阴性能量。密宗,作为一种哲学体系,把宇宙万物看作是一个舞蹈,是湿婆和沙克蒂,或阳性能量与阴性能量之间的互动。

QuestionBesides feeling cold and hot, is there any other experience when kundalini awakens? 

: 除了感觉冷和热之外,在昆达里尼能量被唤醒时还有其它感受吗?

A: People will also feel a lot of peace in spite of the extreme heat and extreme cold. That’s the distinguishing thing. 

答:即使感到极度的寒冷和极度的炎热,(在昆达里尼能量被唤醒时)人们还会感到非常的平静。这是比较特别的一点。

Question: What’s the relationship between kundalini and chakras?

问: 昆达里尼和脉轮之间是什么关系呢? 

A: Chakras are basically energy centers. When kundalini awakens, kundalini pierces through all these chakras and reaches the crown chakra. 

答:脉轮是能量的中心。当昆达里尼能量被唤醒时,她会穿过所有的脉轮到达顶轮。

Question: if kundalini reaches the crown chakra, is it possible to come back again? 

问:昆达里尼能量到达顶轮后,有没有可能再下来? 

A: Yes. Kundalini reaches the crown chakra, but it doesn’t stay there forever. When kundalini reaches the crown chakra, you experience the special state known as “kriya” or the “fourth one”. Normally, you experience only three states of being. The first one is wakeful state. Second one is dreaming state. Third one is deep sleep when you are not even dreaming. These are the three states that you normally experience. But when kundalini reaches the crown chakra, that’s when you’ll experience the fourth state, which is very different from all these three states. That is known as “kriya” or “the fourth one”. And the end of it is what we call as “enlightenment”. For those of you who know the yogic terminology, this state is also known as “Samadhi”.

答:是的。昆达里尼能量到达顶轮之后并不是一直停留在那里。当昆达里尼能量到达顶轮时,你会进入到一种叫做“Kriya”的状态,或者“第四种状态”中。通常情况下,我们只能体验到三种存在的状态。第一种是清醒的状态。第二种是做梦的状态。第三种是深度睡眠的无梦状态。这就是我们通常经历的三种状态。当昆达里尼能量到达顶轮之后,我们就会体验到第四种状态,它和其它三种状态是完全不同的。它被称为“kriya”或者“第四种状态”。这种状态的终点就被称为“开悟”。在瑜伽用语里,这种状态也被称为“三摩地”。

The idea is once it goes there, you experience this fourth state. Think of it as sleep. You go to sleep for 8 hours, 9 hours, 10 hours, whatever, and after that you wake up from sleep. Similarly, when kundalini reaches here, you’re going to the fourth state which last for certain length of time, and after that you come out of that state. And then at that time, kundalini goes back to your root chakra. But now you’re enlightened and that does not change. Yogis’ experiences have been different. Some yogis said after the enlightenment, the kundalini went back to the root chakra. Some said it went to the heart chakra and stay there. 

昆达里尼能量一旦到达顶轮,你就会体验到这第四种状态。就好像睡觉一样,你睡了8小时、9小时或10小时之后,会从睡眠中醒来。同样地,当昆达里尼能量到达顶轮时,你会体验到第四种状态,它也会维持一定的时间,之后你也会从这种状态中出来。而此时,昆达里尼能量会回到根轮。但是这时你已经开悟了,这一点是不会变的。对于瑜伽士来说,他们可能会有不同的体验。有些瑜伽士说在开悟之后,昆达里尼能量回到了根轮。而也有些瑜伽士说他们的昆达里尼能量回到了心轮并留在了那里。

Question: How far can an individual control the awakening of the kundalini? 

问: 人们可以在多大程度上控制昆达里尼能量的唤醒?

A: Through practices, such as meditation and some other techniques, we can awaken the kundalini and guide her to the sixth chakra. Generally, as long as kundalini is until the throat chakra, the fifth chakra, there is possibility that if you stop the practices, it’ll come back down. We can guide her up to the sixth chakra. But the journey from the sixth chakra to the seventh chakra is totally dependent on the divine grace. It’s in the hand of the universe for that part of the journey to happen. But once that journey happens and the person is enlightened, then after that the person would be able to manage the movement of kundalini. The person will be able to manage not only his own kundalini, but even kundalini movement in other people also. Generally masters who have awakened their kundalini can awaken the kundalini in any other person merely by looking at that person or sometimes just by thinking of that person. Of course they won’t do it very lightly, but it’s possible. In case you’re wondering, you have to remember that the kundalini is ultimately cosmic energy. Individual kundalini is just the appearance of the cosmic energy. Once you realize your cosmic abilities, controlling individual appearances is not a big deal. 

答:通过冥想或其它技巧的练习,我们可以把昆达里尼带到第六个脉轮的位置。通常来说,如果昆达里尼能量到达了第五个脉轮(即喉轮)的位置时,如果你停止练习,昆达里尼能量还是有可能落回去。但是我们还是可以把她引导到第六个脉轮。而昆达里尼能量从第六个脉轮到第七个脉轮的这一段是完全取决于神的恩典的。它的发生完全掌握在神的手中。而一旦昆达里尼能量到达了顶轮且此人开悟,那么此后这个人就可以掌控昆达里尼能量的流动了。他不仅可以掌控自己身体内的昆达里尼能量,甚至可以掌控其他人的昆达里尼能量流动。通常那些昆达里尼能量被唤醒的大师们只要看着某个人或者只是想着某个人,就可以唤醒那个人的昆达里尼能量。当然他们不会轻易地去做这个事情,但他们是可以做到的。如果你觉得这很不可思议,你应该去回忆一下,昆达里尼能量是终极的宇宙能量,而每个人身体内的昆达里尼能量只是宇宙能量的显现而已。所以一旦你认识到你的宇宙能量,那么掌控这种能量在个体中的显现就是小菜一碟了。

Question: Do you think people who do “reiki” must have mastering kundalini flowing? 

问: 那些做“reiki”的人是否必须能够掌控昆达里尼能量的流动呢?

A: Kundalini awakening is not a must of reiki. They’re dealing with pranic energy, but not necessarily kundalini. 

答:昆达里尼能量的唤醒并不是做reiki的必要条件。Reiki和生命能量有关,但不一定和昆达里尼能量有关。

Question: Is the experience of enlightenment similar to the experience after taking drugs? 

问: 开悟的感受类似于吸毒之后的感受吗?

A: Drugs infuse certain space of the mind. Kundalini awakening is basically beyond the states of mind. In fact, when kundalini awakens, the mind stops doing what it is (doing). Also, you can judge from the after effects of those drugs that the consequences of taking them are not good. But once you’re enlightened because of kundalini awakening, etc., the person is totally transformed into divine. So there’s a huge difference between those two things. 

答:毒品是刺激你的头脑中的某个区域。而昆达里尼能量的唤醒是超越于头脑的状态的。事实上,当昆达里尼能量被唤醒时,头脑是停止工作的。另外,从结果来看,吸毒的后果通常都是不好的。但是如果你因为昆达里尼能量的唤醒而达到开悟,那么你就会彻底地转变为神性的存在。所以这两者之间是有巨大的差别的。

Question: First question, how to cleanse the chakras? Second, if my parents influence me, is their karma in my chakras? And how to cleanse them? 

问: 第一个问题,如何清洁脉轮?第二个问题,如果父母对我施加影响,他们的业力传给我吗?

A: There are many ways to cleanse the chakras, including meditation. Parents or teachers influencing us per se cannot constitute karma. That’s we call as “cultural conditioning”. But base on this conditioning, if I make certain choices in my life which has, let’s say, negative consequences to others, that constitutes karma. 

答:清洁脉轮的方法有很多,其中包括冥想。父母或老师对我们的影响本身并不构成业力。这种影响也被称为“文化的熏陶”。但是如果我在这种文化熏陶的基础之上做出了对别人有负面影响的选择,这才构成了业力。

Question:What do you mean by saying “cleanse the chakras”? Does that mean getting rid of all the karma or all the negative karma?

问: 你所谓的“脉轮清洁”是什么意思?是去掉所有的业力,还是去掉所有负面的业力?

A: The idea is that good karma results in happiness to us, and bad karma results in pain. Both of them are stored in the chakras. Both happiness and pain make us think we are just human beings, even though we’re actually divine. So the purpose is eventually to cleanse both pain and pleasure. But definitely, the cleansing is more focused on the negative side, from the human view point.

答:好的业力给我们带来快乐,坏的业力给我们带来痛苦。不管好的还是坏的业力,都储存在我们的脉轮当中。无论是快乐还是痛苦,它们都会让我们认为我们只是凡人而已,而实际上我们是神圣至上的能量存在。所以最终的目的是既要清洁让我们痛苦的业力,也要清洁让我们快乐的业力。但是从人类的观点来说,肯定是更着重去清洁负面的业力。

Question:When you’re born to the world, you’re carrying the DNA of your parents. And your parents’ DNA also transmits karmic energy to you. When you cleanse the chakras of all the karmic memories, is it possible that you also cleanse the karma of your parents or ancestors? 

问: 当你出生时,你会带着父母的基因。而你父母的基因也把他们的业力传给了你。所以当你对脉轮进行清洁去掉这些业力时,是否父母或者祖先的业力也被清除了呢?

A: Think of your physical DNA as the media of your karmic DNA. There is a karmic relationship between you and your parents, not necessarily you and your siblings. Because of the relationship, you’re born as a child to that particular parents and therefore yes, you do have karmic relationship and you share the karma. But at the same time, if certain person experiences kundalini awakening and he changes his karmic map, that cleanses seven succeeding generations and seven preceding generations. 

答:你可以把物理上的DNA想象成你业力的DNA的载体。你和你的父母之间是有业力的联系的,但是你和你的兄弟姐妹之间不一定有。因为这种业力的联系,你才会以你父母的小孩的身份来到这个世界。所以说,是的,你和你的父母之间是有业力联系的,并且你们有相同的业力记忆。而同时,如果某人的昆达里尼能量被唤醒,他的业力的蓝图就被改写了,这一净化过程会净化此人往上7代人以及往下7代人的业力。
